The old saying that “politics is the art of the possible” attaches to the recent runoff. I’m out Mike Espy got just over 410,000 votes. This is roughly 10,000 more votes than he received in the midterms.
Some say that this is the end of the story, I think not: the numbers tell just a part of the story. Mike won nearly every county in the western part of the state and attracted thousands of new voters. He’s already filed notice of his intent to run again in 2020 and will undoubtedly garner lots of support as he builds on the momentum gained in this year’s race.
